A father has a large burden
responsibility weighs
to carry such a heavy load
a father needs to pray

a man must look for aid
becoming the priest he should be
a role in which he plays

founded on the precepts of God
a basis he must heed
of taking care of his family
in meeting every need

a child will look unto his dad
an image he will see
of how the Father God must look
a likeness will there be

where love is shared expressed in deeds
forgiveness at each turn
encouragement from God’s own word
a father is concerned

and the rewards shall be many
when dads do all they can
following Christ with trusting faith
and lead with strengthened hands

a provider and protector
this godly man of love
fulfills his great purpose on earth
and soon to be above
